Bizou and Splendora's on the Downtown Mall

Last night we went to the Downtown Mall to get some dinner.  We were thinking about what we wanted for dinner and I thought of dumplings from Marco and Luca because we haven't had them for a long time.  We got there and there was a big long line.  Dad suggested that we go to Bizou.  So we looked at the menu and we decided to get a table.

We were seated outside.  I liked sitting outside because you could see the sky and when it got dark you could see the starts.  First we ordered drinks.  I had lemonade.  My mom had a gin and tonic and dad had beer.  The lemonade was not too sweet, but it wasn't lemony enough.  So I took two slices of lemons that I had and squeezed them in.  That made it even better.

We ordered our dinner and then we had to wait a while.  After a little wait we got our salads.  My mom had cold tomato soup (Gazpacho), it was kind of spicy at the end.  My dad had a house salad with balsamic vinaigrette, and I got the same thing without the vinaigrette.  I usually get ranch, but they didn't have any.  My dad asked me if I wanted to try the vinaigrette.  I didn't because it looked brown and gross.  But some of it spilled on my lettuce and I ate the piece of lettuce and it was actually really good.  It was kind of a sweet and sour taste that made the salad taste a lot better.

Then we finished our salads and waited a bit longer.  After we waited a little bit we got our entrees.  I had calamari.  My mom had miniature tuna ceviche tacos.  My dad had duck with roasted peaches, kale, and some kind of brown grain, and a delicious sauce.

The calamari was really crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside.  The sauce was also kind of sweet and sour so it mixed together really well.  I'm not sure how my mom's tacos were because I didn't try them.  Dad's entree of duck was really tender and it went really good with the roasted peach because it went good with sweetness.  And then my dad gave me a bite of everything all together and it was really good with the softness of the kale, the sweet peach, crispiness of the grain, and the tenderness of the duck all mixed with the sweet and tangy sauce.

After that we went to get gelato at Splendora's.  We tried all different sorts of flavors.  Finally I chose torrone and lavendar and my mom got goat cheese with honey fig and bourbon peach.  The lady said I had a very sophisticated palate.  Every bite I took was smooth...LAVENDER...smooth.  My torrone was smooth with a little bit of crunch to it from nougat.  My mom's goat cheese with honey fig was really good.  You couldn't really taste the goat cheese, but you could taste the fig with the smoothness of the honey.  Her bourbon peach was vanilla-y with pieces of peach throughout.

After that we walked back to the car and went home.  When we were in the car my mom said that it was a good family night.  I agreed.
